Procrastination

Do you know that feeling?

The feeling of... "I'll do this another day, I have so many things I need to do today already and I can't make my run"?

Well I do, I have days like the day before yesterday when the weather was simply dull and grey and I didn't "feel" like going outside, I would much rather stay inside with this:
Or yesterday when I had to sit and wait at home for our new fridge/freezer to arrive (which it then didn't, but I can hardly blame myself that). When it didn't arrive I was just too lazy to actually get out there and do it because it was yet another dull and grey day.

Then today, when the fridge actually DID arrive (YAY) and the weather had of course turned from dull to bad, windy and rainy I somehow got my act together and went out.
The thing is, I forget in between runs that I enjoy it, I LIKE running, and I LIKE how I feel after (granted I am still only doing 5K at a time), so I don't get why my mind goes into procrastination mode.
Just so you can see the new fridge that I certainly procrastinated
Oh brain, please start behaving like you want your body to be healthy!

Transistioning to outside

It really really isn't the season to transition to running outside, but I did yesterday because as much as I actually like running on a treadmill (more on why later) I know that in the end I would get more out of running outside.

As I said here it isn't always the best place I live if you want to run outside. Nature isn't great and I don't have a car so I can swish to a park and utilize the (many) park there are outside of Copenhagen.
Instead I can chose to run around "The Lakes" (quotation because they certainly have never been lakes, more so ponds), or in the tiny park around the corner called Ørsteds Parken.
The Lakes offers bobbing and weaving in between people taking an afternoon stroll with pets, bicycles taking a shortcut, and children whom you never know when is going to make a 180 and trip you. Not fun really, but a better alternative than running a 5K around Ørsteds Parken, which would take you in circles 5 times.

Hence yesterday I could be seen shuffling along the sides of the fake lakes of Copenhagen, doing my best to dodge other people and pets all the while trying not to be discouraged about the fact that every other runner passed me with ease.

And it really wasn't bad. The weather wasn't great, it was foggy and damp, but that just meant that I didn't overheat and it wasn't cold enough to make my throat hurt yet.
All in all I am actually really proud of myself that not only can I run for 30 min. straight, in those 30 min. I can actually get in a 5K.

(Pictures will be added of the places I can chose to run, when I later go for a walk, but as of now, morning coffee is needed)

Sickness

So I became sick and didn't really do anything, hence the lack of posts as well as lack of kilometers.

But I should be back now completely, and I was really good with eating (if we don't count last night - chips are on of my weaknesses) even on saturday when we had an early thanksgiving for some danish friends.

I did want to show one of my new favorite meals: The Mango salad with chicken. This is what I ate and I was completely satisfied (and proud of my portion control).

It is also really easy and somewhat cheap to make.

You need (for two):

  • A mango
  • Iceberg lettuce (or another, I just like the iceberg)
  • Two tomatoes
  • Cucumber
  • Feta
  • Two Chicken breasts
Set your oven to preheat to  200 Celsius/390 Fahrenheit. Season your chicken breasts with e.g. lemon pepper (you don't need any grease), and put them in an oven safe pan.
Set the pan in the middle of the preheated oven for 30 min. and they will come out done a juicy still.

While the chicken is in the oven cut the lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber, mango and feta and put them all in a mixing bowl where you mix them really well.

Once the chicken is done, you make plates with a chicken breast and some mango salad and sit down at the table to enjoy a fresh meal.

I don't recommend bringing the bowl to the table, or rather any pots in general as it is much easier to overeat if you have it right in front of you as supposed to having to go to the kitchen.
